Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Robert V. Vallar, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

Being a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, Dr. Vallar is a part of the team at Retina Consultants, PA II with offices throughout the state of New Jersey, including Ridgewood, Belleville, Montclair, and Jersey City. The doctor’s hospital affiliations include The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood & Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville. At The Valley Hospital, Dr. Vallar serves as the Director of Ophthalmology. He has had teaching appointments and has given lectures and presentations on the subject of vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Vallar earned his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City, New York in 1985. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Nassau County Medical Center in 1989, where he served as chief resident. He then went on to complete his fellowship in retina-vitreous diseases and surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas in 1996.
