Being a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, Dr. Vallar is a part of the team at Retina Consultants, PA II with offices throughout the state of New Jersey, including Ridgewood, Belleville, Montclair, and Jersey City. The doctor’s hospital affiliations include The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood & Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Vallar earned his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City, New York in 1985. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Nassau County Medical Center in 1989, where he served as chief resident. He then went on to complete his fellowship in retina-vitreous diseases and surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas in 1996.

Robert V. Vallar, MD, is a 1985-graduate of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City, NY. His postgraduate training includes his ophthalmology residency served at Nassau County Medical Center (1985-1989), where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Vallar performed his retina-vitreous diseases and surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, in 1996. He attained board certification in ophthalmology with the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member American Academy of Ophthalmology and, in addition to English, he speaks Italian and French.
